Linda Hutchins received the Jurors' Choice Award at the 9th NW Tacoma Biennial on view January 31 - May 25 for her site specific wall drawing, "Lineal Silver". Dialogue between the study for the Biennial piece, other drawings and the artist's organza sculptures will be evident. Seattle sculptor, printmaker, painter and conceptual artist Jeffry Mitchell will display work from the NW Contemporary Art Award exhibition installed at the Portland Art Museum, summer 2008. Mr. Mitchell's ceramic work is currently featured at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. Crushed glass is a relatively new medium for Laurie Reid who has made a national reputation of her drops, pours and splashes of watercolor on paper. The mirrored glass adheres to paper by means of her drips, sprays and drawings of adhesive glue, refracting and reflecting light. Residing on a rural island in Puget Sound, Heather Larkin Timken, presents unique Japanese style woodblock prints, pristinely mounted on wood. Mr. Clevenger's newest work is titled "Diary of a Politician". The artist writes, "I have chosen to use color symbolically for these paintings. Some truths are black and white while some fall into a gray zone, other truths are represented by a not-so-true blue, and orange for mendacity."
