Kay French Birch 2008 Kay French has a fascination with science, and for the past few years her artistic focus has been highly influenced by the study of botany. Through her precise collection and study of plant specimens, her detailed paintings show the beauty of disregarded plants (many often designated as weeds). The care in rendering and composition offer the viewer a path to a measure of transcendence. |

Jerry Iverson Line Bomb 10 2009 Jerry Iverson layers tissue paper, sumi ink, rabbit skin glue and varnish which he applies to gessoed panels. Iverson works boldly, inspired by shadow and silhouette as much as abstract expressionism or mark-making. However, there is a sensibility in the compositions that evoke modernist greats such as Franz Kline and Robert Motherwell. |
